My Personal Retreat Experiences

I wanted to write and share a little bit about my experience with retreats and why I feel they are such a beautiful place and space to be with yourself and others.

The word retreat makes me feel like it’s a time of being, a ‘re’ lets say to go into again, a time to ‘treat’ you. Just like we ‘re’ ‘tune’ an instrument, like a crab retreats into its shell. For me this is absolutely a time to ‘be - in-g’ your temple, your home, your body. Your space of deep worship. The space that you live in, that you honour, you tend to, you take care of.  Whilst being in that space, that's where the inner work takes place, in your home, in connection with self, and in turn in being supported and held in workshops  by others, guided on journeys and also time for your own self reflection and contemplation.

You learn to be in your body, to feel what it’s like to be in there, to be held in a safe space where you can feel and be with it all. Where others have also been there, albeit their own experience can be different to yours, a space where there is profound wisdom and deep knowledge, compassion and loving beings.

I first officially helped co-host a retreat in Panama in 2018, at the time of going through my heart cracking open after an intimate relationship was in turmoil, I got to spend the time with one of my best friends Jess, whom I met on a bus in 2014 whilst we were both traveling from Vietnam to Laos, We bonded over me offering her some oreos, and our bond and love for our friendship, and food, has been strong ever since. Many trips and life's adventures have been shared over these years in many different countries together since and a deep and strong friendship remains. We have actually spoken about doing some retreats in Italy sometime soon! And 2014 was a big time for me, 8 months traveling the world, opening myself to life, to the unknown, following my own path, seeing the culture, trying all the different foods, the different ways of being and living, visiting temples and opening myself up to the world.

So Panama…a beautiful retreat in a small surf town. A week of women coming together, with Tara being the facilitator and retreat leader who now has a very successful yoga center in Australia, teaching yoga, offering Reiki and sharing her knowledge and wisdom. Along with Jess, being an incredible host and organiser creating fun activities and making sure everyone and everything was taken care of, we were all set for an incredible trip! We went horseback riding on the beach at sunset. There's more to this story, for another time! We surfed the waves, went on a boat trip to the most incredible Islands, saw dolphins swim in the wild, ate the most delicious fresh food, napped, hung out in hammocks, danced, cried and had a lot of laughter. (Food is always an absolute highlight for me!) The beauty of it is you get to know and meet beautiful souls from all walks of life, all with their very own unique story and oh the story telling, such an ancient and forever beautiful practice of listening to someone share a slice of their world with you. Sometimes it sparks something in you, sometimes you can relate, perhaps it shocks you, perhaps it opens something up within you, maybe it inspires you, a beautiful time for compassionately opening to life in all the ways.

A time spent very intimately, a space made for deep emotional bonds to be created with yourself and others. A time for you to step out of your comfort zone, try something new, nourish yourself deeply and meet new beings. Stepping in the unknown, a beautiful space where magick unfolds and new dreams, visions and ideas unfold.

I am feeling grateful to be sitting at this airport as I write this, as the gate opens at 11:11 for my boarding flight. Taking flight and on this journey, opening up to this new path, beginning my kundalini teacher training, time spent in an ashram, deepening my understanding and practice of this human experience right now, my evolution, the world's evolution and the ways in which we work with our energies and frequencies.

The reason I write and share about this as it really does feel such a natural space for me to be in, to be sharing, to be holding this for others. It combines all my passions in one and what a beautiful way to share and support others in this space. And this year really is the year I will be holding many retreats, with 5 already set some out there in motion, whilst the rest being created and more being discussed, please keep an eye on the events page where you will see all events and retreats, workshops taking place.

Would you like to know more? Perhaps share your adventure with me?

Feel free to send me a message.

May you be well, loved and adorned, always.

Love Katie
